Paige Knudtson was thrilled to learn that she was expecting a child, and soon after, she adopted a two-year-old boxer named Brutus from a nearby rescue. As someone who grew up with boxers, Knudtson understood their friendly nature. However, she had no idea how much Brutus would impact her baby’s life. According to Knudtson, Brutus is a lovable teddy bear who craves attention and enjoys cuddling with people.
Knudtson discovered a severe heart problem in Finn during an anatomy scan when she was 20 weeks pregnant. Finn had to undergo multiple treatments right after birth until he could have an open-heart surgery. Knudtson admitted that they were fortunate to know about the issue before Finn’s birth; otherwise, he wouldn’t be alive today. After going through seven weeks of recovery with some complications, Finn was finally allowed to leave the hospital. When Brutus met his infant brother, he immediately formed a bond with him. According to Knudtson, once they got home, Brutus seemingly sensed that Finn needed extra care and attention, and he hasn’t left his side ever since.
These two buddies have an inseparable bond and enjoy each other’s company all the time. They engage in various activities like watching TV, playing outdoors, eating meals, and taking naps together. Whenever Finn is seated somewhere, Brutus often curls up beside him and trails him from one room to the next inside the house. Knudtson states that whenever Finn is unwell, Brutus instinctively senses it and stays close to him, resting his head on Finn’s chest.
Brutus can’t stand being away from Finn, not even for a short period. He’ll frantically scratch the door to Finn’s room or wander around outside until he’s granted access. The two brothers are so close that they don’t even want to be by themselves during the night.
As a little guy, Finn was carefully watched over by his loyal dog who slept in front of his crib. But now that Finn has upgraded to a toddler bed, the two are even closer as they snuggle up together at night.
According to Finn’s owner, since he started sleeping in his “big boy bed” about a month ago, Brutus, the protective dog, has crawled up and snuggled with him every night. It seems as though Brutus is keeping a watchful eye on Finn, making sure he doesn’t accidentally roll out of bed.
No matter where Finn ventures, his loyal companion Brutus is always by his side, even if it means sacrificing a bit of comfort. According to Knudtson, Finn started sleeping on the floor, prompting Brutus to cozy up beside him there too.
Ever since Knudtson relocated Brutus’ bed to Finn’s room, the two furry buddies have been inseparable. Finn prefers to cuddle with Brutus in his bed rather than sleeping alone in his own. Fortunately, Knudtson was able to capture their adorable bedtime routine via a nanny cam. Whenever Brutus is snoozing on the floor, Finn would grab his blanket and climb out of bed to snuggle up next to his loyal companion. The kind-hearted pup doesn’t mind being used as a pillow; all that matters is that Finn is at ease.
